I tried to use the link button to add a link to the text in an HTML stack. It didn't work.

There are two types of text in Stacks: styled and unstyled. Text stacks contain styled text and HTML stacks contain unstyled text. That's the only difference between those two stacks.

If you want styles like Bold, Italic, Fonts, or links, then you should use a Text stack. If you want to craft those things in HTML yourself, then you should use an HTML stack.

More detail:  This split between styled and unstyled isn't just for Stacks, it's how RapidWeaver works as a whole.  That's why there's a Styled Text page and an HTML page -- they are roughly synonymous with the Text stack and the HTML stack.

One more thing:  RapidWeaver 6 now comes with a third type of text:  Markdown.  Stacks doesn't (yet!) include any features which take advantage of this.  But I think it's safe to say we're working on it.
